The 2025 Halton Hills PhotoArt Exhibition
From honourable mention to Best in Show, it was an unforgettable evening.
From March 3 to March 30, 2025, the Halton Hills Cultural Centre and Library hosted the annual HaltonPhoto Art juried photography sale and exhibition, open to both amateur and professional photographers. I entered the show for the first time in 2024, with five of my photos selected for display, although I did not win any awards.
This year, however, is a different story. I attended the awards night on March 7th. Six of my images had been selected across three categories: Critters & Creatures, Scenery, and Flowers and Foliage, with two photos in each category.
I headed inside, and the ceremony began. Many photographers were being recognised for their excellent work. Soon, the category of Scenery was being called. After announcing the honourable mentions for the category, they began to announce third place, and that's when I heard my name. My photo, “The Mill,” had been selected for third place!
Soon, the Critters and Creatures category was called, and during the honourable mentions, I had my name called again! This time for my photo “Downy Woodpecker”
While standing with my honourable mention, I was very surprised to hear my name called again! My photo, “The Buck”, won first place!
Lastly, the announcement of Best in Show arrived. The PhotoArt website describes this as " the highest scoring image from all categories wins Best in Show.” It brought a great surprise: I heard my name called, Best in Show for “The Buck!”
I was highly honoured to win first place and Best in Show for “The Buck.” That photo is one of the most memorable I took in 2024. I even wrote about the previous experience of taking that photo in the Chronicles. If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend reading it!

I got out of my car and went over to the passenger side where I keep my camera. You never know what you might see, and I like to have it handy. I retr…
